You fed the pigs what?!
We’ve been away for a while. Sorry about that. We’ve had a wedding in another country, a move to a new town, three cases of bronchitis and a pregnancy (twins) which has kept our schedule pretty full. As wonderful as all that has been (except the bronchitis, thank you) we’re very glad to be back.
Caught in Sin?
Some one asked the other day, ‘Can a person be saved living a life of sin?’
Possibly two things they could have meant by this: Is a sinful person ever able to be saved? or, is one who is saved ever going to sin again and are they in danger of loosing their salvation? For the first one, most definitely. Otherwise, none of us would have a chance, for we are all sinners.
The Gospel in a Nutshell
“for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,”(Romans 3:23Romans 3:23English: Contemporary English Version (1999) – CEV23 All of us have sinned and fallen short of God’s glory.WP-Bible plugin) “For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.” (Romans 6:23Romans 6:23English: Contemporary English Version (1999) [...]
Aslan and Tash
I’ve just finished reading the complete Chronicles of Narnia (thanks to Robin!) and finally made it to one of the parts I’ve been looking forward to since I began the seventh book, The Last Battle. This is the section I’m sure you’ve heard about even if you haven’t read the series. It is the bit [...]
Merciless Mercy
Luke 20:18Luke 20:18English: Contemporary English Version (1999) – CEV18 Anyone who stumbles over this stone will get hurt, and anyone it falls on will be smashed to pieces.”WP-Bible plugin describes what I call the ‘Rock of Grace’ “Everyone who falls on that stone will be broken to pieces, but he on whom it falls will be crushed.” [...]
A Point Unbelievers Cannot Grasp
After rolling around in my head for sometime and coming out in prayers, it occurred to me that the thought of the only One True God, Creator of the Universe, humbling Himself before us, becoming one of us, is certainly one of the hardest points for anyone, esp. unbelievers, to accept. That He would, if [...]
Weighty Carson
Missions Blog has a D.A. Carson quote I thought worth sharing. People do not drift toward holiness. Apart from grace driven effort people do not gravitate towards godliness, prayer, obedience to scripture, faith, and delight in the Lord. We drift toward compromise and call it tolerance. We drift toward disobedience and call it freedom. We [...]
Grace – what is it?
We’ve been getting a few enquiries lately about grace, and what it really means in laymen’s terms, so I thought I’d have a go at explaining it simply, and it seems to me that the best way to understand what grace is is to understand what it does, so let me detail that quickly. As [...]
The Big 10
Image via Wikipedia I’d like to examine the best known (and possibly least adhered to) section of the Old Testament very quickly. We get about 3 or 4 hits a week from people looking for an explanation of the Ten Commandments “in layman’s terms.” I’m no lawyer, nor am I sure what it is exactly [...]
